Microwave Cake
Microwave "ding" cake, takes about 2 minutes to finish! Beginners may need up to 20 minutes.
Ingredients and Tools
- Microwave oven
- Microwave-safe container
- Butter
- Flour
- Baking powder (without it it tastes like a pancake)
- Egg
Measurements
- Egg🥚 1
- Flour🍚 15g
- Baking powder🍚 2.5g
- White (brown) sugar🍬 10g
- Salt🧂 1g (optional to taste)
- Coffee powder☕
- Chocolate🍫
- Oats🍿
- Milk🥛
- Nuts🥜
- Cookie crumbs🍪
- Banana🍌
- Non-dark-cuisine🍆
Steps
- Add the following ingredients, and do not exceed 3/4 of the container
- Scoop half an egg-sized piece of butter into the container, microwave for 15 seconds until melted
- Melt/mash the chocolate/banana into pieces/paste
- Crack in one egg and beat to mix
- 15g white (brown) sugar (sweet tooth can add more) (see Appendix 4)
- Add 1g salt (if later flavor add-ins contain salt, adjust accordingly)
- Add 2.5g baking powder
- Add 15g flour (gluten level doesn’t matter much)
- Add any flavor add-ins you like! (nuts and cookies and other dry add-ins are not added now)
- Mix until it looks like thick yogurt with no dry flour visible
- Add optional dry add-ins (excluding instant powders) on top
- Praise yourself🥰
- Microwave (high power) for 1 minute (until it puffs up into a cake shape)
- Take out the cup (it’s hot!!!) and post to your social feed, then you can eat
Notes
- You can repeat the steps before praising yourself multiple times to make a bigger cake
- Baking powder makes the cake fluffier, most are aluminum-free, a few yuan per pack, good to keep at home
- In the step “Add any flavor add-ins you like!”, if adding liquids (such as milk), make sure the next step can still be mixed into a thick yogurt texture; add little by little to avoid too much moisture causing a wet, dense result
